Solid Snake, known as David before his military days, was a former spy, special ops soldier, and mercenary. Fluent in six languages and having an IQ of 180, he was known as "the man who makes the impossible possible". His actions have made him a living legend among military special ops operations.
Solid Snake is a product of the Les Enfants Terribles project, which produces clones of the world famous soldier Big Boss.
Originally a member of the United States Army Special Forces (aka the Green Berets), Snake was later transferred to the high-tech special forces unit FOXHOUND while under the command of "Big Boss". He became a war hero for repeatedly stopping potential nuclear disasters by repeatedly disarming and destroying an international threat codenamed Metal Gear.
Later in Snake's career, his body began to rapidly age due to genetic changes from his original cloning process. Due to the unfortunate deterioration of his health, he was forced to retire after his latest mission to take down the corrupt organization behind American politics known as the Patriots.
